Wilder (31-0, 31 KO) was originally supposed to take a big step up in competition by fighting WBC heavyweight belt holder Bermane Stiverne on the Shawn Porter-Kell Brook undercard this Saturday, but that fight had to be postponed after Stiverne suffered an injury. Wilder has decided to go ahead and face replacement opponent Jason Gavern (25-16-4, 11 KO). Gavern is not perceived as a threat to Wilder and most observers view this fight as more of the same in terms of Wilder's level of opposition. Wilder has himself admitted that he would be a laughing stock if her were to blow this fight.
