Klitschko's upcoming title defense against Kubrat Pulev has been postponed.

Kubrat Pulev has been promising to end the 'boring' heavyweight reign of Wladimir Klitschko, although it now looks like he'll have to suffer through it for at least a couple more months. Klitschko was scheduled to make his title defense against Pulev on September 6 in Hamburg, Germany but has just sustained an injury during training camp. ESPN UK, amongst others, are reporting a pulled hamstring, while Dan Rafael is reporting a torn biceps injury.  That's a pretty big discrepancy in injuries, but either way the bout will be put off for at least a couple months. Early speculation is that fight could now happen in mid-November.

"He had problems on Friday and he first thought it's a minor thing, but he went to the hospital near the camp [in Austria] and there they detected this torn muscle," Bernd Boente, Klitschko's manager, told ESPN.com. "He was in top shape and he had perfect sparring partners. He did a long preparation and is sorry to have to postpone the fight."

"We hope to reschedule the bout in the same arena in mid-November, probably Nov. 15," Boente said. "But that is something we have to discuss with the arena and RTL [the German television network that has a contract to carry Klitschko's fights]. We also have to talk to the IBF because this fight is a mandatory.

Pulev (20-0, 11 KOs), the undefeated mandatory challenger will now have to adjust his training schedule to prepare for a new fight date, once it has been finalized.

Unfortunately this turn of events will only likely provide Shannon Briggs with a few more opportunities to randomly pop-up on Wladimir to eat his food, jump in his ring, or somehow otherwise antagonize him. And I'm sure it'll all be magically captured on camera for the world to see.
