Jessie Vargas will face Antonio DeMarco on November 22 in Macau, with Vargas making the second defense of his WBA junior welterweight title against the former lightweight titleholder. The fight has been rumored for the last week, and tonight Steve Kim said the fight has been finalized.
Vargas (25-0, 9 KO) beat Khabib Allakhverdiev in April to win the belt on the Pacquiao-Bradley II undercard, and defended against Anton Novikov in August on HBO. DeMarco (31-3-1, 23 KO) has won three straight since a one-sided loss to Adrien Broner in 2012, all of those three fights at welterweight. He'll move down to a firm 140 for this fight.
DeMarco last fought on August 23, beating Lanardo Tyner in Mexico. He was knocked down in the first round but came back to win on wide scores. Fidel Monterrosa and Jesus Gurrola have been the losers in his other two wins on the current streak.
Also on the undercard, Vasyl Lomachenko will face Chonlatarn Piriyapinyo, Zou Shiming will take on Kwanpichit OnesongchaiGym, and Bryan Vasquez will meet Diego Magdaleno.
