Julian "J-Rock" Williams stayed unbeaten tonight, beating Eliezer Gonzalez on FOX Sports 1 in Las Vegas. The Philly junior middleweight prospect improved to 17-0-1 (10 KO) with an unanimous decision win on scores of 80-72 across the board. BLH had it 79-73, giving the first round to Gonzalez (14-1, 9 KO).
The matchup perhaps wound up a bit more competitive than anticipated, as Gonzalez, a 27-year-old Puerto Rican with an empty record coming in, as able to expose some defensive holes on Williams, 24, but as the fight wore on, Williams displayed his skills, and was able to take over the fight pretty convincingly, landing what looked to be the harder and more consistent shots.
There's certainly still some work for Williams to do, but of course he's young, and this was his third win of the year, after knockouts against Freddy Hernandez and Michael Medina.
