Michael Perez and Rau'Shee Warren both scored a knockdown, both only arguably lost a round, and both won 10-round decisions tonight in Cincinnati, with their fights televised on Showtime Extreme ahead of the tripleheader main card on Showtime.
Perez (20-1-2, 10 KO) improved to 3-0 at 140 pounds with a 10-round rout of Jared Robinson (15-2, 7 KO). Perez, 24, lost on ShoBox to Omar Figueroa in January 2012, but says he'd like a rematch with Figueroa, who may soon be moving up to 140 pounds himself after a run as WBC lightweight titleholder. Mauricio Herrera, who holds the WBA "regular" 140-pound title, is also one of Perez's potential targets.
Perez won on scores of 98-91, 97-92, and 97-92.
Warren (12-0, 3 KO) continued a run where he can knock a guy down, and outclass an overmatched foe, but the finish wasn't there. The 27-year-old hometown fighter and former three-time Olympian shut out Mexico's Jose Luis Araiza, winning on unanimous scores of 100-89.
The live fights will pick back up at 9:25 pm EDT on Showtime. Join our live thread!
