It seems we cannot have any Mayweather fight without some sort of controversy these days. This time, Mayweather's ex-fiancé, Shantel Jackson, is suing Floyd for allegedly beating her and humiliating her in public. The timing of the lawsuit was a calculated decision, in my humble estimation, with Mayweather's scheduled rematch with Marcos Maidana less than a week away. But surely that doesn't excuse the behavior that sparks these recurring accusations of domestic violence.
In the lawsuit, Jackson alleges that Floyd beat her during the course of their relationship, publicly humiliated her by posting pictures of a sonogram saying that Jackson had aborted their unborn twins, and threatened to post naked pictures of her online if she didn't remove photos she had taken with rapper Nelly. At the link above you can watch a video of Ms. Jackson detailing her grievances against Floyd with noted attorney, Gloria Allred at her side.
Whether these news charges prove to be a distraction for Floyd in his upcoming fight remains to be seen, although he has been known to be very adept at compartmentalizing different aspects of his life when preparing for big fights. Neither Mayweather nor his representatives have commented on the lawsuit at this time.
