Golden Boy will host a big card at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel Thursday night, kicking off what should be an exciting week in Vegas. A whole bunch of fighters you've heard of are in action action fighters you probably haven't heard of.
The card is headlined by a heavyweight bout between Cuban amateur standout Luis Ortiz and Lateef "I fuck he up" Kayode. Ortiz was last seen dispatching of Monte Barrett in April. Kayode has won two straight since drawing no contesting with Antonio Tarver.
Juan Manuel Lopez is back in action, probably against his better judgement, against Jesus Cuellar. Cuellar of Argentina will put his WBA interim featherweight belt on the line, a belt he won in August of 2013 and defended most recently against Rico Ramos. Wait, he's had an "interim" belt for over a year? That's weird. We'll see if Cuellar is "regular" title material against Lopez, who has to be considered a gatekeeper—albeit a dangerous one—at this point.
Philly fighter Julian Williams gets Eliezer Gonzalez. Williams has impressed of late, stopping Orlando Lora, Freddy Hernandez, and Michael Medina one after another.
Olympian Errol Spence Jr. should take care of Noe Bolanos without much trouble. Opponents for Josecito Lopez and Jermall Charlo are still TBA as of this writing.
I just checked axs.com and tickets, including ringside seats, are still readily available should you be heading to Vegas early.
