A fight between junior welterweight knockout artists Lucas Matthysse and Ruslan Provodnikov is being discussed, with Provodnikov's promoter Artie Pellulo telling RingTV.com that Golden Boy Promotions, which handles Matthysse, are interested in the fight.

Provodnikov's team wants him back in the ring in March or April, and there are several opponents they're naming as possible. One is even Manny Pacquiao, who shares a trainer with Provodnikov, but it's a fight that could happen if the Mayweather-Pacquiao talks fall through or are further delayed. Also being mentioned are Marcos Maidana and Brandon Rios, if Rios beats Mike Alvarado on January 24. Those fights would be at welterweight, and Provodnikov is flexible about weight for the right fights.

Provodnikov (24-3, 17 KO) fought twice in 2014, losing in June to Chris Algieri and then following that up with a return to Russia in November, easily beating shot former lightweight champion Jose Luis Castillo.
