The Bad Left Hook Pick'em Game: Season 25 - Week 3

Josh Hedges/Getty Images

The first fight was excellent though, perhaps, not epic. The second fight was, well, different. We saw a leopard change his spots and box intelligently to a UD. What does the rubber match have in store? I can't wait to find out Saturday night on HBO. See our full Alvarado/Rios fight week coverage here.

On the undercard we'll see highly regarded Mexican middleweight prospect Gilberto Ramirez take on Russian tactician Maxim Vlasov. Both recently went the distance with Derrick Findley, for what it's worth. Vlasov has fought up at light heavyweight, so we'll see how Ramirez handles a big, smart boxer. Finally, I've included the Rocky Juarez fight just for giggles.

Let's get to it!

Remember our one new rule: The numbers in your selections are binding, not the names. So, if you make a mistake and say "A. (1) – 1 – Rios to win" ... your official pick will be Alvarado since that is pick number 1. Feel free not to even put the names in there; the numbers will suffice.

Check out last week's standings—and your remaining doubles and triples—here.

For those that haven't played before, welcome to the best pick'em game going. Please join right in and start playing (just make sure to check out the rules - we promise they are very simple).

An explanation of how to fill out your selections appears at the bottom of this post - please follow these instructions as it makes it easier for us to tabulate the results quickly each week.

Now let's get to this week's line-up…

**** Remember you do not need to make a selection on every fight. If you are unfamiliar with any of the fighters, and don't want to risk points, you are free to PASS on any pick. You must make at least one selection to receive the 10 point participation bonus****

A. Pick the winner - Mike Alvarado vs Brandon Rios  (Saturday, January 24th)

1. Alvarado to win – risk 7 points to win 8.
2. Rios to win – risk 8 points to win 7.

B. Over/Under - Alvarado vs Rios (Saturday, January 24th)

1. Under 8 1/2 – risk 3 points to win 7.
2. Under 11 1/2 – risk 5 points to win 5.
3. Over 8 1/2 – risk 7 points to win 3.
4. Over 11 1/2 – risk 5 points to win 5.

C. Pick the winner / Method of victory - Gilberto Ramirez vs Maxim Vlasov (technical decision counts as decision, DQ counts as stoppage - Saturday, January 24th)

1. Ramirez to win – risk 7.5 points to win 1.5.
2. Ramirez by decision – risk 4 to win 5.
3. Ramirez by stoppage – risk 3.5 to win 5.5.
4. Vlasov to win – risk 1.5 points to win 7.5.

D. Pick the winner - Rocky Juarez vs Robinson Castellanos (Monday, January 26th)

1. Juarez to win – risk 4 points to win 3.
2. Castellanos to win – risk 3 points to win 4.

Please fill out your selections as follows:

Enter the LETTER of the fight first, then whether it’s a single (1), double (2) or triple (3) followed by the NUMBER of your pick. (The name of the fighter and method of victory are optional).

**** You have 10 doubles and 5 triples to use over the 10 week season ****

For Selection A, if you want to use one of your doubles on Rios to win...

A. (2) – 2 – Rios

For Selection B, if you want over 8 1/2 without using a double or triple...

B. (1) – 3 – Over 8 1/2

For Selection C, if you want to use one of triples on Ramirez by decision...
