Alvarado vs Rios III: Both fighters comfortably make weight for rubber match

HBO's first boxing event of 2015 is good to go, as all four fighters made weight today in Colorado.

Mike Alvarado and Brandon Rios both made weight for tomorrow night's welterweight main event on HBO from Broomfield, Colorado, as the two are set for a third fight after a Fight of the Year contender in 2012 and an action-packed rematch in 2013.

Alvarado, who will have home field advantage, weighed in at 146½, while Rios was at 146¾. Both fighters have had setbacks since their two battles, with Rios going 1-1, losing to Manny Pacquiao in Macau and beating Diego Chaves by DQ last August. Alvarado has lost two straight against Ruslan Provodnikov and Juan Manuel Marquez. He hasn't fought since last May.

Alvarado (34-3, 23 KO) is also facing some legal issues right now, which is frankly nothing new for him, but there is some concern about his focus. But both he and Rios (32-2-1, 23 KO) could in the mix for another big fight later this year with a win, and a loss is a real blow to either man.

In the HBO co-feature, super middleweight prospect Gilberto Ramirez (30-0, 24 KO) weighed in at 170½ pounds for his fight against Maxim Vlasov. Vlasov (30-1, 15 KO) weighed in at 170 pounds for the catchweight bout.
