Alvarado vs Rios III: Live streaming results and round by round fight coverage (January 24, 2015)

Mike Alvarado and Brandon Rios lock horns once again tonight on HBO.

Chris Farina / Top Rank

Tonight at 9:45 pm EST, HBO's first boxing event of 2015 kicks off, with two fights slated from Broomfield, Colorado. In the main event, Mike Alvarado faces Brandon Rios in a welterweight rubber match, with Gilberto Ramirez taking on Maxim Vlasov in the co-feature.

Alvarado (34-3, 23 KO) has home field advantage for this bout, but that didn't help him the last time he fought in this arena, when he lost to Ruslan Provodnikov in October 2013. Alvarado has lost two straight to Provodnikov and then Juan Manuel Marquez last May, and is in something of a must-win situation tonight. At 34, time is ticking on his career as a relevant contender.

Rios (32-2-1, 23 KO) snapped his own two-fight losing streak (against Alvarado and Manny Pacquiao) with a win last August over Diego Chaves, a DQ-9 result on HBO. The 28-year-old Rios is still looking to make a significant impact at 147 pounds -- the win over Chaves was a solid one in that he beat a solid opponent, but the ending was certainly anticlimactic.

Ramirez (30-0, 24 KO) is a top prospect in the super middleweight division and has folks at both Top Rank and HBO excited about his future, and his future is really starting this year. Against Vlasov (30-1, 15 KO), he faces a solid fighter who doesn't tend to give opponents a ton to work with, and he could test Ramirez's patience, technical ability, and ring IQ. Vlasov's only loss was a decision against Isaac Chilemba in 2011.

We'll be here tonight with live coverage, so join us for the fights!
