Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao have had their names linked together since 2009, but we've never seen them go face to face -- until now. At last night's Miami Heat vs Milwaukee Bucks game in Miami, both fighters were in attendance, and met up at mid-court following the game.
Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press said on Twitter that Mayweather gave Pacquiao his cell phone number, and told him it's time for them to make the deal themselves. The Heat also put them both on the jumbotron earlier in the night:
The idea of Mayweather giving Manny his cell number and making that sort of offer is intriguing on the surface, but by now we know that Manny Pacquiao is not going to try to go rogue and make his own deal with Mayweather. It's tough, anyway, since he's under contract with Top Rank, and they'd have to be bought out for a pretty large sum of money. In the past, Mayweather has reportedly offered promoter Bob Arum $10 million, which apparently wasn't (and frankly shouldn't be) enough money, given how much Top Rank stands to make on a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.
Ultimately this probably doesn't mean much, but it was a neat thing that happened.
