If the promoters can put the final details on a fight, Orlando Salido will be traveling to San Juan, Puerto Rico, to defend his WBO super featherweight title against Rocky Martinez on March 21, according to a report at RingTV.com, which quotes Peter Rivera of PR Best Boxing:
"There are no contracts signed but we're very close. March 21 is definitely the date but if things can't come together soon, then we may have to go back a tad. But Peter definitely wants to go on March 21."
Salido (42-12-2, 29 KO) won the interim WBO title in his last fight, a thrilling war with Terdsak Kokietgym on September 20, which saw seven total knockdowns, including Salido climbing off the canvas on three separate occasions. He was later elevated to full champion when Mikey Garcia was stripped.
Martinez (28-2-2, 17 KO) fought just once this year, a tune-up on December 20 where he beat a club fighter by second round knockout. He hadn't fought since November 2013, when Mikey Garcia knocked him out in the eighth round to win the WBO super featherweight belt.
