Premier Boxing Champions' "The Next Round" series on Bounce TV will partially abandon its "prospect/young fighter" format for the next airing on October 30, with heavyweight veterans Tony Thompson and Malik Scott set for the main event in Orlando, Florida.
But the two featured undercard bouts will see four undefeated prospects in action, so really, it balances out.
Thompson (40-5, 27 KO) remains a contender in the division at age 43, as "The Tiger" is coming off of a February 27 stoppage of Odlanier Solis in Turkey, his second win over the once-heralded Cuban, whose pro career has been but a shadow of his amateur greatness. (A big, husky shadow.)
Scott (37-2-1, 13 KO) was once known as "80-72" because of the general result of his fights, spending a lot of time fighting mid-tier bouts and dominating without showing much punching power. Now 34, he's 2-2-1 in his last five fights, losing to Dereck Chisora (TKO-6) and Deontay Wilder (KO-1), and drawing against Czar Glazkov. But most recently, hd went to Australia and beat Alex Leapai on Halloween night 2014. Now a day shy of a full year out of the ring, he gets a chance to beat someone else who has lost to Wladimir Klitschko.
The undercard bouts will see Lydell Rhodes (23-0-1, 11 KO) take on Sergey Lipinets (7-0, 6 KO) in a 10-round junior welterweight fight, and Javontae Starks (13-0, 7 KO) against Samuel Figueroa (9-0, 4 KO) in an eight-round junior middleweight bout.
