In the seventh round of last night's fight between Prichard Colon and Terrell Williams, the Puerto Rican prospect took a nasty shot to the back of the head, then went down twice two rounds later. After surviving the round, Colon's corner began cutting his gloves off, not knowing there was one round left, and ultimately left with a disqualification loss.
According to reports, Colon vomited and fainted backstage. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors performed emergency surgery to relieve a brain bleed.

As of this writing, Colon remains comatose, although he is reportedly breathing on his own.
This injury is yet another reminder that, at its core, this sport is about two people beating each other as close to death as possible, and came on a night when broadcasters remembered the tragic case of Magomed Abdusalamov. We here at Bad Left Hook ask you to keep Colon in your thoughts.
