Newly-minted Russian citizen Roy Jones Jr. (62-8, 45 KOs) will be back at it on December 12th when he takes on Enzo Maccarinelli for the WBA's "regular" title. Maccarinelli (40-7, 31 KOs) has been bouncing between cruiser and heavyweight the past several years but with his most recent win coming against Jiri Svacina (12-17, 1 KO) just a couple of weeks ago. While Maccarinelli respects Roy's resume, he still expects to go in and do his job come December.
"Jones was a great fighter, certainly the best of his era, and someone that I admired," said Maccarinelli. "That has to be put to one side as I have my job to do and that's to knock him out.
"It's incredible how the Russian people have taken to Jones; he's like a superstar here, with the media following his every move. It takes the pressure off me because I'm just seen an opponent for him, but I'm going to pull off a huge shock in December."
With that said, and with his best years still far behind him, Roy Jones continues his march towards hopefully earning another major title (which this isn't)...
