Tyson Fury threatened to pull out of today's fight with Wladimir Klitschko after complaining of a "soft canvas" on the ring in Düsseldorf, Germany, but the issue has reportedly been resolved, and the fight is on.
One of the foam layers on the canvas has been removed, making it firmer, and Fury's manager Asif Vali says the fight will go ahead:
"The fight is on," Fury's agent Asif Vali told The Associated Press, six hours before the bout was due to take place at a 55,000-seat soccer stadium in Duesseldorf. "One of the canvas layers is being removed. There were three layers of foam and one is being removed for health and safety reasons," Vali added. "It's being done right now. The fight is definitely on. Everything's fine."
The main thing to focus on here is the many potential jokes about the softness/firmness of the canvas that will come from this if Fury is knocked out.
