Tonight at 10 pm EST on Showtime from Las Vegas, it's a four-fight bill on ShoBox: The New Generation, with middleweights Antoine Douglas and Les Sherrington doing battle in the 10-round main event.
Douglas (18-0-1, 12 KO) is a native of Virginia, and currently ranked ninth by the WBA. Usually we don't say much about sanctioning body rankings, but once you're in the top ten with a body, you're pretty much in the mix for a title shot sooner or later. Sherrington (35-7, 30 KO) is an Aussie veteran looking to knock Douglas off, and move up from his own No. 12 spot with the same body.
Welterweight prospect Taras Shelestyuk (12-0, 8 KO) will face Russia's Azlanbek Kozaev (26-1-1, 7 KO) in another 10-round fight. Shelestyuk, 29, won bronze at London 2012. The other two fights on the night will be eight-round affairs. Junior welterweights "Killa" Keenan Smith (8-0, 3 KO) of Philadelphia and Benjamin "Da Blaxican" Whitaker (10-1, 2 KO) of San Antonio meet in one of those fights, and in the other, lightweights O'Shaquie "Ice Water" Foster (8-0, 5 KO) of Texas and "Tsunami" Sam Teah (6-1, 2 KO) of Philadelphia square off.
