Beibut Shumenov, a man bold enough (or dumb enough) to face Bernard Hopkins without a trainer, has reportedly suffered an eye injury that will force him off the co-feature of a December 18th PBC card on Spike TV. His scheduled fight with Krzysztof Wlodarczyk will be replaced by Murat Gassiev (22-0, 16 KOs) vs. Isiah Thomas (15-0, 6 KOs) in a world title eliminator. All fights will be held at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas

Gassiev is riding a 7-fight knockout streak, and Thomas is coming off his most notable win to date -- a unanimous decision win against Jordan Shimmell back in July.

The winner between Gassier-Thomas will be named the mandatory challenger for cruiserweight titleholder Victor Emilio Ramirez (22-2-1, 17 KOs), who fights out of Argentina.

The main event of the December 18th card will go on as scheduled, with Denis Shafikov (36-1-1, 19 KOs) and Rances Barthelemy (23-0, 13 KOs) fighting for a vacant world title.
