Chris Algieri UD-10 Erick Boné

Algieri (21-2, 8 KO) gets off the schneid with a solid win over Boné (16-3, 8 KO), who drops his second straight after a loss earlier this year to Shawn Porter, too. Both understandable losses, and in both fights he showed up, but was outclassed overall.

Algieri, 31, was in his second fight under the tutelage of John David Jackson, and had a somewhat slow start. The first half of this bout was highly competitive, with both guys doing some good work here and there. Through five, we had this one 48-47 in favor of Boné, but the second half was all Algieri.

The Long Island native scored a debatable flash knockdown in round eight, and in rounds nine and ten really let his hands go and landed a lot of punches, sealing the victory. Judges had it 97-92, 97-92, and 95-94. BLH had it 97-92 for Algieri, and he's back in the mix at 147 now, and could be an interesting opponent for any number of Haymon fighters next year.

Marcus Browne TKO-4 Francisco Sierra

Browne (17-0, 13 KO) hurt and cut Sierra (27-10-1, 24 KO) in the opening round, and the fight was all but over then. Browne, 25, outworked and easily outlanded the 27-year-old Sierra in all three of the rounds that were actually fought, with doctors and the referee stopping the fight one second into the fourth when checking the cut for the third time. It didn't help that Sierra's right eye, which had no cut, was also swelling shut by that point.

Sierra came in over 183 pounds for this fight, which was set at a contract weight of 178. It's the second notable time that Sierra has blown off weight for a fight, doing so in 2011 when he weighed 175 for a super middleweight bout with Jesus Gonzales. He was smoked both times.
