Shawn Porter still waiting on Keith Thurman to finalize their fight

Shawn and Kenny Porter tell FightHype they've been waiting on Keith Thurman to finalize their fight since September, and if they don't get a confirmation by the end of the month they'll just move on to someone else.

Wil Esco is an assistant editor of Bad Left Hook and has been covering boxing for SB Nation since 2014.

A few months ago a big welterweight clash was semi-announced between Keith Thurman and Shawn Porter. Since that time the prospective fight was said to have been punted to early 2016, but now, in December 2015, there's still is no official date for the fight. Shawn and his father/trainer Kenny Porter have said that they're still waiting on Thurman to okay the fight, and although they've received a number of assurances that he will, thus far it hasn't happened.

Kenny Porter was asked he he was at all frustrated that Danny Garcia-Robert Guerrero got the date that Thurman-Porter had been rumored for, but Kenny said he wasn't at all because he knew Garcia had no interest in a fight with his son -- none at all. It's pretty clear, though, that there is at least some frustration in the Porter camp because Shawn has been on the shelf for six months since besting Adrien Broner and still doesn't have a return date solidified.

Both men are now taking the opportunity to publicly call out Thurman to formally accept the fight while suggesting that if he doesn't do it soon, they'll have to look towards another fight.
