Those disappointed with the matchmaking that brought Danny Garcia vs. Robert Guerrero about  may be a tad more satisfied with this one. According to a press release, the promotion's inaugural FOX show will also feature a welterweight fight between rising star Sammy Vasquez, Jr. and the resurgent Aron Martinez.

The card is scheduled for January 23rd at the Staples Center.

Vasquez (20-0, 14 KO) was effectively flawless in his PBC debut, battering the very tough Jose Lopez for a fifth-round stoppage. "The Who Can Mexican" has scored (T)KOs in nine of his last eleven fights and most certainly passes the eye test with his combinations and footwork.

Martinez (20-4-1, 4 KO) rebounded from a 2014 TKO loss to Josesito Lopez to become a wholly unexpected contender. The 34-year-old fought Robert Guerrero to a controversial split-decision loss in June, dropping him in the process, then earned one of the year's biggest upsets by beating Devon Alexander.

A win for either man would likely set them up for fights with the division's elite.  I'm certainly interested in seeing whether these two really have the goods.
