Boxing is a pretty dark sport in all respects, and too often there's not much by way of truly good news coming out of the sweet science, either on a professional or personal level for the fighters. But this is certainly a great story, and it's something that should be talked about.
Many of you are familiar with the story of Kennedy Cunningham, the young daughter of former cruiserweight champion and current heavyweight contender Steve "USS" Cunningham. Kennedy was in dire need of a heart transplant, and the Cunninghams finally got the call in early December.
Today, WPVI in Philadelphia reports that young Kennedy is doing well after the procedure:
This is a true feel-good story, and really a blessing for Steve Cunningham and his family. There's really nothing more to say than that. It's just great to see something this positive happen for anybody, and the Cunninghams went through so much to get here.
Steve fights on Saturday night, facing Vyacheslav Glazkov in Montreal, with the fight televised by HBO as part of the Kovalev-Pascal bill.
