Floyd Mayweather: I asked for this fight, Manny Pacquiao didn't make it happen

Floyd Mayweather says he chose Manny Pacquiao and made their May 2 fight happen because he wanted it.

On what made the fight finally come together

"A lot of times you hear certain things in the media, you hear certain things from the critics, the writers, that aren't true, that are totally false. We tried to make this fight happen in the past. We kept bumping heads. We kept bumping heads because of random blood and urine testing, then about being the A-side, and who's gonna be the B-side, and there were a lot of problems in the past. We finally resolved everything. The teams got on the same page and we made the fight happen."

"Everyone wants to keep talking about how this fight happened, this fight happened because of me. This fight didn't happen because of Manny Pacquiao, because I asked for the fight myself. We had to choose an opponent for May, and I said, 'What better opponent to choose?' So we chose Pacquiao."

On motivation from those who say he ducked Pacquiao

"I just feel like everyone is entitled to their own opinion. My job is just to be Floyd Mayweather and stay focused on the positive things. When a fight presents itself, to go out there and do what I do best. Let's go out there and win and be smart. I don't focus on (the negative). I know what I can do. I know what I bring to the table, and I know what I bring to the sport of boxing.

"To be the face of boxing and to do so many record-breaking things, it's all about staying relaxed and staying focused."

On what to expect from Mayweather on May 2

"Expect us to have a brilliant game plan and to be the best that we can be. It's all about working hard in the gym, listening, being smart, knowing your body, and then when it's time to go out there, we do what we do best."
