Freeman Coliseum will play host to a special HBO Latino boxing event this evening at 9:45 pm EST, as super featherweights Francisco Vargas and Will Tomlinson meet in a 10-round main event, with light heavyweight Vyacheslav Shabranskyy in the co-feature bout.

Vargas (21-0-1, 15 KO) is a former Olympian from Mexico who at 30 is at an advanced age for a prospect, and just starting to make a real name for himself. He's in fairly tough tonight with Tomlinson (23-1-1, 13 KO), a 28-year-old Australian who has won two straight following a mild upset loss a year ago to Jerry Belmontes.

Shabranskyy (12-0, 10 KO) has been a wrecking ball since turning pro in September 2012. The Ukrainian fighter, 27, has fought his entire career in the United States, as he now lives in California. He looked ready for a step up in his January win over hardened veteran Garrett Wilson, a ninth round stoppage where Wilson hit the canvas twice.

Shabranskyy will face a fellow unbeaten tonight in Brazil's Fabiano Pena (11-0-1, 8 KO), but the opponent's record is a mirage. Pena, 27, has faced no one of any note in pumping up his record. He recently relocated to Pennsylvania, and fought in West Virginia last December, his first fight on American soil. He's being thrown into the deep water in this fight for sure.
