Wayne Rooney KO'd during playful boxing session

I'm pretty sure Manchester United isn't going to be thrilled about this...

Wil Esco is an assistant editor of Bad Left Hook and has been covering boxing for SB Nation since 2014.

English footballer and avid boxing fan, Wayne Rooney, and his friend Phil Bardsley decided to lace up the gloves in Rooney's kitchen for a playful sparring session. Perhaps he should have taken things a little more seriously as Rooney was fairly easily KO'd after getting touched to the chin.

After being knocked out cold, the 'friend' who filmed the fight handed over the video to British tabloid 'The Sun of Sunday,' for what I'd imagine to be for some monetary gain. As funny as the video looks, I'm quite certain that Louis Van Gaal who heads up Man. U. didn't find much humor in seeing his star forward getting stretched out. As it so happens though, Rooney managed to score a goal in his very next game, appearing to be unaffected. He also mocked the KO with his goal celebration. So, of course, there are some who intimate that he really feigned the knockout in the first place but, who knows. It's certainly possible.
