Wilder: Bermane Stiverne will never be the same

FightHype caught up with Deontay Wilder to discuss his thoughts on the Bermane Stiverne fight.

Wil Esco is an assistant editor of Bad Left Hook and has been covering boxing for SB Nation since 2014.

Deontay Wilder was asked for his thoughts on the Bermane Stiverne fight now that he's had some time to really reflect on it. In the video, Wilder claims that he doesn't think that Stiverne will ever be the same fighter in the ring, as he believes Bermane took too many punches to the head in their fight.

I haven't watched the replay of the fight in some time but while Stiverne clearly lost that fight, I never got the impression that it was a career altering beating that he took. Now, this things are most frequently never black-and-white and we've seen many fighters seriously injured even after leaving the ring in okay shape (for someone who has been beaten up, of course). We've also seen ugly-looking knockouts where there aren't necessarily long-lasting effects or injuries.

So my question to all of you out there is, do you think that Stiverne was irreparably damaged during the Wilder fight, or do you think he can come back to form and perhaps contend for another world title?
