Mickey Bey vs. Denis Shafikov set for April 30

Well - it won't be Mickey who gets the TMT undercard fight during Mayweather-Pacquiao.

Mayweather Promotions and Top Rank were able to put together another fight, despite the little love lost between the two sides. Mickey Bey (21-1, 10 KOs) will be making his first mandatory title defense against Denis Shafikov (35-1-1, 19 KOs) on April 30th in what will be the main event of an ESPN2-televised fight in Las Vegas.

"We're not making Pacquiao-Mayweather again, we were making Bey-Shafikov," Dave Moretti of Top Rank said about working with Mayweather Promotions. "They have the champion, they have the date (on ESPN2). We were professional, we made a deal and we move forward to the fight, and it's a good fight, especially during fight week (for Mayweather-Pacquiao).

"It's classic style match. Shafikov is an aggressive kind of fighter who walks you down while Bey is a slick counter puncher. Whoever can impose their style on the other guy will win. It's almost a miniature version of what's probably going to happen on May 2."

Bey won his IBF lightweight title via controversial split decision against Miguel Vazquez last September. This will be Shafikov's second shot at a world title, the first of which he lost via unanimous decision to the very same Miguel Vazquez in February of last year. So who ya got in this one?
