This afternoon at 3:00 pm EST on Sky Sports (UK) and also 6:15 pm EST for the main event on Showtime, Kell Brook and Jo Jo Dan headline a bill from the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, England, with Brook making the first defense of his IBF welterweight title.

Brook (33-0, 22 KO) hasn't fought since August, when he traveled to the United States and knocked off Shawn Porter to win the belt. A December bought was canceled when Brook was stabbed on vacation, and now he's back to take on Dan (34-2, 18 KO), a solid contender but obvious underdog. Dan is coming off of a pair of wins of Kevin Bizier in November 2013 and December 2014.

The Showtime airing will have just the main event, but the Sky Sports broadcast will also have undercard action:

  • Adam Etches (18-0, 15 KO) vs Sergey Khomitsky (29-11-3, 12 KO), middleweights, 12 rounds
  • Gavin McDonnell (12-0-2, 4 KO) vs Oleksandr Yegorov (13-0-1, 6 KO), super bantamweights, 12 rounds
  • Frankie Gavin (21-1, 13 KO) vs Bogdan Mitic (20-6, 13 KO), welterweights, 10 rounds
  • Kal Yafai (13-0, 9 KO) vs Cristofer Rosales (10-1, 7 KO), flyweights, 10 rounds

Jab to the body from Dan is a bit off the mark. Tied up once again, separated once again. Brook's lead right a bit short. Lead left from Dan off the mark. Brook swings a right hand that misses. Couple of good shots from Brook now, including a short uppercut that sneaks in and connects solidly. Brook landing pretty accurately, Dan having a lot of trouble getting anything going. Round 2: Brook sneaking in little pitty-pat counter shots again, heads collide and Brook paws at his forehead for a second, but no blood. CLEAN, hard right hand from Brook, and then Dan is dropped after another shot! Dan is wobbly, and he's down again! Brook drops him with another right hand! Kell looking to finish this quickly. His legs are still gone, Dan's, and he's at this point grabbing on for dear life. There's half a round left. Brook really wants to finish this. Dan trying to hang on and survive for now. Another shot from Brook, Dan ties up once again. Left hand wobbles Dan again, and there was really no steam on that. His legs are just not good still, feet are a little wonky. Brook headhunting, but Dan might get through this round. Dan goes low, but nothing called. Brook with another clean right hand. Another one gets in. Dan does manage to get out of round two, and he's shown recuperative powers in the past, so we'll see what happens from here. Brook 10-7, 20-16

Brook picking him off with shots again. Left uppercut grazes Dan's jaw and temple. Dan poking a right hand jab out, Brook now waiting a bit more and looking for a counter opportunity. Dan eats another clean lead right hand. That punch has been the money for Kell, as you would expect against a southpaw. Left hook just misses as Dan pulls back from close range. Right hand again, and again. Dan's nose bloodied as Brook begins physically dominating once again. Dan wobbled again as we get near the bell. Right and a left from Brook. Dominant performance thus far. Brook 10-9, 30-25

Round 4: Dan a little slippery the last two rounds, or at least a little more slippery than the first two. Dan with a right hook upstairs, then a couple potshots inside. Brook with another nice combo, a three-punch effort in tight. Tying up a lot now on both sides. Brook seems confident that one big shot will do it, or else he's trying to get in rounds. Dan dropped again after getting wobbled, as his feet give out on him. Third knockdown of the fight. Dan once again trying to survive until the bell. And on the bell, Dan is down again on a left hook! The round is over, and Dan makes it. Brook 10-7, 40-32
