Ruenroeng vs Shiming: Live results and round by round coverage

Zou Shiming goes for his first world title as he faces Amnat Ruenroeng today in Macau.

Join us this morning as we bring you live coverage of today's "Showdown at Sands" card from Macau, where Zou Shiming challenges Amnat Ruenroeng for the IBF flyweight title, as Shiming looks to graduate from drawing card to world champion in just his seventh pro fight.

BoxNation will have live coverage starting at 7:30 am EDT.

Shiming (6-0, 1 KO), a two-time Olympic gold medalist from China, has beaten a strong level of competition given he's only had six pro fights, going 3-0 with easier bouts in 2013, and then 3-0 with step-up style fights in 2014, most recently outpointing Kwanpichit OnesongchaiGym in November on the Pacquiao-Algieri undercard, in a truly one-sided fight.

At 33, Shiming and his team know that the clock is ticking for him, and that if an opportunity is there, they need to take it. Ruenroeng (14-0, 5 KO) in some ways appears an easy touch for a world titleholder. He's 35, he's relatively inexperienced as a pro, and he has a belt. But Ruenroeng went on the road to Japan last May and upset Kazuto Ioka to win this belt, then made a successful home defense against a talented Puerto Rican foe, McWilliams Arroyo. Neither fight was without some controversy, but Ruenroeng can fight, and Shiming has shown vulnerability and some notable flaws thus far as a pro, too. He'll have to step it up to claim the belt.

Undercard

Junior middleweight Glen Tapia (22-1, 14 KO) will be back against veteran Daniel Dawson (40-4-1, 26 KO) in a 10-round bout, which will air on tape delay this afternoon on HBO2, along with the main event.
