Harold Lederman: Pascal has to punch to the body or Kovalev knocks him out

Harold Lederman, the longtime judge and HBO analyst, takes a look at the Kovalev-Pascal fight.

Scott Christ is the managing editor of Bad Left Hook and has been covering boxing for SB Nation since 2006.

Lederman on Montreal

"They've got rabid fans in Montreal. They love boxing, they love Jean Pascal."

Lederman on Sergey Kovalev

"He's just incredible. Mostly all of his 30 wins are by knockout. He's a huge right-hand puncher. Nobody thought that he would beat Bernard Hopkins. He won every round. He knocked Hopkins down in the first round. He nearly knocked him out in the 12th round. Sergey Kovalev is one of the real stars in boxing today."

Lederman on Jean Pascal

"Pascal is very, very strong. A good puncher. Punches really good to the body, gets inside. Kovalev, on the other hand, likes to fight at a distance. He wants to use his power shots, has a huge overhand right that knocks people out all over the place.

"Jean Pascal without question is gonna try to get inside. He's gonna try not to get hit by the big right hand. Kovalev needs room to punch. Pascal is very wise to get inside and take Kovalev up on the ropes. I think Jean Pascal's gotta punch to the body in order to win this fight. If he doesn't, Jean Pascal's gonna get knocked out, and that's for sure."
