Following a very close and somewhat controversial win over Lamont Peterson tonight, Danny Garcia met at mid-ring with his opponent after the scores were read. Did he tell Peterson, "I lost"?
This Vine video boosts the audio, and though it's hard to tell for certain, it could be heard that way.
Garcia (30-0, 17 KO) certainly had the body language of someone who wasn't certain he'd won when the fight ended, and there are plenty of people who believe that Peterson deserved the nod in this fight. We scored it 115-113 for Peterson, but the argument for Garcia is definitely there, and it's a question basically of how you scored the first half of the fight.
This controversy could truly shake boxing to its very core. Or probably not, but it's a little interesting, at least. One wonders if Garcia believes he truly won the fight tonight, or if he was lucky to get close scorecards in his favor.
