Mayweather vs Pacquiao: Manny wears shoe lifts?

Speaking during yesterday's news conference, Mayweather says fans will decide if the fight is worth the $99.95 price tag, and that he knows all of Manny's little secrets.

You know, a lot of things get spewed out during a fight promotion, but certain things you just can't anticipate. Floyd started by saying that ultimately it will be the fans who'll decide whether the fight is worth it's advertised price tag. I think it's fairly certain that they'll have little trouble selling PPV's, even with the records high $99.95 price tag (for those of us who live stateside anyway). And despite all the pent up anticipation of the fight, a lot of folks think there is no way the fight lives up to the hype, with both fighters on the downside of their respective careers.

''I can't really say it's hype because this is real life,'' Mayweather said. ''You've got two future hall of famers in a megafight.''

But after the typical questions and responses that we all expect, Mayweather threw a bit of a curveball out there about Pacquiao.

"I know all the little secrets he does," Mayweather said. "He wears the little lifts in his shoes so he can be a little taller, but he's entitled to do what he wants to do."

"I don't think he expected me to be so tall or big, even though I walk around at 147 (pounds), I'm still a big welterweight," he said.

Now this is a first for me. I've heard lots of rumors about both men, but I've never once heard one about Pacquiao going all Kim Jong-Un on us, sporting shoe lifts to make him appear more imposing a figure. I don't know if it's true or not, but just the sheer notion is pretty funny in and of itself. Does Pacquiao have a some form of a Napoleon complex? Was Pacquiao really wearing lifts at the press conference? Will he bring those shoe lifts with him into the ring?! Just another storyline to follow...
