Amir Khan eyes Pacquiao fight in Abu Dhabi

After becoming frustrated with his inability to secure a Floyd Mayweather fight, Amir Khan is turning his attention to Manny Pacquiao.

Amir Khan is now eyeing Manny Pacquiao as his main target for a fight late this year. He's gambled the last couple of years, laying back and thinking he was a lock to get the call from Mayweather, but that never happened. Now he wants Manny in Abu Dhabi (whether Manny wins or loses May 2nd), appearing to be looking right past his upcoming opponent in Chris Algieri.

"I want this fight. I would love to box Manny. We've been looking at an event in Dubai and Abu Dhabi is only a short drive away. It's a dream of mine to fight in that part of the world."

Khan, for his part, doesn't expect Manny to get past Mayweather though, stating that once Floyd adapts to Manny's early onslaught, he should be easy pickins for Mayweather. Be that as it may, Khan also doesn't want to wait around hoping he gets the next nod from Mayweather, as he's done in the past.

"I've wasted the best part of a couple of years waiting for Floyd because I would love to be the man who beat the man considered the best pound-for-pound in the world. Now I have to make the most of every day because soon it may be too late."

How likely Pacquiao is to go fight Khan in Abu Dhabi, I don't know. It feels like a bit of a stretch, particularly if Manny happens to be coming off a loss to Floyd. Then again, perhaps the Pacquiao team still feel like Khan is a fairly easy target for Manny and there's enough money there to make it worthwhile. Do any of you see this as a real possibility?
