As we get ready for the second edition of Premier Boxing Champions on Spike this evening at 9 pm EST, let's take a look back at a fight that happened to make it onto TV the first time as a swing bout. It was Chris Arreola, coming in heavy, against Curtis Harper, coming in heavy.
We all made our snide little remarks as they came to the ring, and when they were in the ring, and before they started beating the crap out of each other. But this stands as, in my opinion, the most purely entertaining and watchable fight of 2015. Some of y'all snob "boxing heads" might complain about the lack of craft or "dedication" to training, but I say fooey to all that jive, because, like, LOOK AT THEM GO.
This is still in the lead for Fight of the Year for me, which is kind of a hipster nonsense sounding idea, I know, but I really mean it. It will probably be surpassed at some point. Probably. But Matthysse-Provodnikov, as good as it was, didn't do it for me, so who knows?
