Mayweather vs Pacquiao: Arum to hold grudge against Al Haymon and MGM Grand

Speaking to FightHype, Bob Arum says he'll 'never forget' how Al Haymon and the MGM treated him during this promotion.

Wil Esco is an assistant editor of Bad Left Hook and has been covering boxing for SB Nation since 2014.

Bob Arum doesn't have too many nice things to say about either Al Haymon or MGM Grand Executive Richard Sturm (who Arum accuses of being under the thumb of Haymon). On top of saying all of of Top Rank's concessions to Mayweather's demands won't protect Floyd from getting knocked out, he's also been mentioning that this has been the worst promotion he's ever been apart of in 50 years of promoting.

Some will look upon that as a credible statement given Arum's long tenure in boxing promotion, and others will look at this as Arum pouting because he's not the lead promoter for the biggest fight of this generation. Whichever side of the fence you stand on in that regard (if you even care at all) Arum also reiterates that a lot of the recent hold ups and fights between the two sides were due to Leonard Ellerbe's inability to read a contract.

At the end of the video, Arum goes from a disposition of levity to one of outright disdain for both Al Haymon and Richard Sturm. This part in particular is in regards to a supposed memo that was circulated around the MGM, declaring that none of the staff members were allowed to talk to anyone from Top Rank, keeping them in the dark about the fight status. It all culminated in Arum stating that he'll always remember the position those two put him into during this promotion (and not fondly).
