Mayweather vs Pacquiao: Manny and Floyd stare down at press conference

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao stared down at the presser today. It was... a staredown.

Some believe that there is much to be gleaned from staredowns, but today's prolonged eye contact between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao was about as uninspired as the rest of the promotion for this fight. Mayweather did appear to have some real intensity to his eyes, however, while Pacquiao looked about as affable and awkward as he ever has during these press events.

This writer can't say what it was exactly, but something about this latest May-Pac staredown felt particularly manufactured. Perhaps it was the dull, PR-first nature of the answers given by the fighters, their coaches, and everybody else. When Stephen Espinoza is the realest guy at the podium, something is amiss. Everything culminated in one of boxing's most honored traditions, and the much anticipated staredown, usually an intense, almost intimate moment between the two combatants, seemed more like an awkward rubbing of elbows between vague business associates at... like, a charity dinner or something.

Where's Mike Tyson when you need him? Or better yet... where's Floyd Mayweather?
