Premier Boxing Champions has used the spotlight of Mayweather-Pacquiao to its advantage, announcing a full June run of fights that will feature the returns of Deontay Wilder, Adrien Broner, and Robert Guerrero. No word yet on what PBC networks (NBC, CBS, Spike, ESPN) will show what fights, but the lineup currently looks like this.
- June 6, possibly Chicago: Robert Guerrero returns against an opponent to be determined. Guerrero (32-3-1, 18 KO) last fought on March 7, losing to Keith Thurman in the PBC on NBC premiere event.
- June 13 in Alabama: Deontay Wilder makes the first defense of his WBC heavyweight title. Opponent also to be determined. Wilder (33-0, 32 KO) won the belt from Bermane Stiverne on Showtime in January.
- June 20 in Cincinnati: Adrien Broner (30-1, 22 KO) returns home for a fight that has been expected since March. Still no opponent.
With these fights all coming next month, expectations for opposition should probably be tempered. Wilder's fight seems likely to be a showcase sort of title defense, a homecoming victory lap that gets the exciting young American heavyweight seen by a bigger audience. Guerrero and Broner also seem unlikely to face top competition. Also worth noting that on June 6, HBO has Cotto-Geale, so hopefully that's an afternoon PBC card and we don't get a head-to-head.
