Fans of the Argentine slugger are going to have to temper their expectations for his next outing as Maidana - he won't be stepping between the ropes until at least the end of the year. FightHype.com caught up with trainer Robert Garcia who acknowledged that Maidana has put on more than a few pounds and will have to spend at least 4-5 months just cutting weight before he can get down to the business of truly training for a fight. From the looks of a recent video he posted on his IG, along with buddy Adrien Broner, Maidana looks to be a long way away from 147lbs.

Taking everything into consideration, Robert Garcia sees an end of the year return as the earliest option for a Maidana fight. He also went on to say that he thinks Maidana earned this downtime after a busy 9-month span where he fought Adrien Broner, and then Mayweather twice.
