ROUND BY ROUND

KELL BROOK vs FRANKIE GAVIN

Round 1: Fairly quiet opening round, Brook finding range a bit in the last minute. Jab gets in. Heads clash just a bit. Of the little that was done, Brook did more. Brook 10-9

Round 2: Gavin playing spoiler again this round, and I'll nick it his way. This isn't very good but Gavin's doing what he probably should. Gavin 10-9, 19-19

Round 3: Brook getting more aggressive to start this round, which is wise. Brook gets Gavin to the ropes and lands a couple shots before Gavin spins off. Much better round for Brook as he got more of his speed into the fight, which is bad news for Gavin. Brook 10-9, 29-28

Round 4: Brook cutting off the ring and having his way more and more. Brook landing good shots to the body and head, Gavin still trying to spoil since he can't get much done. HARD right by Brook snaps Gavin's head back with 30 seconds left in the round. Brook 10-9, 39-37

Round 5: Brook is looking too physically strong for Gavin at this point. The difference in their punches is really striking. Brook bullying Gavin now and landing solid shots. Gavin just getting walked down and seems to have nothing that's going to really test Kell Brook, to the point that Brook may as well try to look spectacular. Gavin does pick him off with a couple lefts, one to the body, one inside on an uppercut. Brook 10-9, 49-46

Round 6: This fight reeks. Brook hurts Gavin with a right with about 20 seconds left. Gavin drilled again, and he's going down and the fight is stopped. Brook TKO-6

ANTHONY JOSHUA vs KEVIN JOHNSON

Round 1: Johnson doing his usual stay-away but he gets clipped and the crowd goes batpoop. Johnson goes down against the ropes late in the round, and Joshua PUMMELS him to end the round, flooring him again with a shot that does come just after the bell. Joshua 10-8

Round 2: Well, we're going to go on. Right hand Joshua, left gets in behind it. Johnson laying on the ropes and Joshua is beating the snot out of him. Johnson doing nothing. He does get off the ropes and walks around the ring with his hands down. Another left from Johnson. Right hand, left hand, right hand and finally it's stopped. Joshua TKO-2

JORGE LINARES vs KEVIN MITCHELL

Round 1: Crowd heavily behind Mitchell, singing the West Ham anthem. Both guys a little tentative, Mitchell landing a bit more in the first two minutes, but Linares pops him with a short right hand and then a longer, loopier right hand. Right hand and a left uppercut in from Linares. He took this round in the last minute. Linares 10-9

Round 2: Mitchell looking very cautious in the first half of this round. The speed of Linares' right definitely got his attention in the first round. Mitchell takes a left to the body, and Linares lands two more upstairs after that. Right hand and a flurry in the corner. Linares in control right now. Linares 10-9, 20-18

Round 3: Another tentative first two minutes of the round, up for grabs again in the last 60 seconds. Nice shot from Mitchell gets in and backs Linares up for a moment. Linares really doing nothing this round, Mitchell takes this one by controlling the distance and jabbing effectively. Mitchell 10-9, Linares 29-28

Round 4: Linares with a left to the body, both guys still not taking any real risks. Very much a chess match at the moment. Right hand from Linares, Mitchell struggling to get any offense going this round. Mitchell with a couple decent left hands with about 30 seconds left in the round. Right hand from Linares. Two hard body shots from Linares at the bell. Linares 10-9, 39-37

Round 5: BAM! Linares down on a left hand about 40 seconds into the round! Up and fighting on, Mitchell is storming on him, as he should given Linares' history. Mitchell backs off when Linares doesn't fold right away, but he's got a lot of confidence now, and Linares is just trying to get out of this round. Now Linares with an offensive charge after he gets his legs back. Mitchell swinging for the fences and missing wide. Body shot from Mitchell. Right hand from Linares as he stalks again at the moment. Mitchell 10-8, 47-47

Round 6: Liked Linares' work in this round, but it was close. Mitchell did a bit, but I thought Linares did just a bit more, and got back into the rhythm he likes. Linares 10-9, 57-56

Round 7: Really nice round from Mitchell here, as he gets his offense out of gear again. Mitchell 10-9, 66-66

Round 8: Mitchell and Linares both throwing a bit more in the first half of this round, starting to mix it up. Mitchell's left eye is bloodied and his nose may be bleeding, too. Linares sees it and is zeroing in with good jabs. Body shot from Linares, then a hard right upstairs. Mitchell standing still at the moment. Mitchell coming back a bit with 30 seconds to go in the round, but Linares had his way in much of this round. Linares 10-9, 76-75

Round 9: Linares shoots in an uppercut to start the round. Mitchell doing very little in the first two minutes, but Linares not exactly taking the round by the throat, either. This is a tough round to score after Mitchell comes through with a little offense in the last minute. Linares 10-9, 86-84

Round 10: Mitchell hurt with a right hand and backs into the corner a minute into the round, but gets out, though he's still against the ropes. Linares LIGHTING HIM UP with a flurry from both hands. Blood pouring out of Mitchell's face. Mitchell just can't get anything together, Linares is smashing him up this round. Mitchell's left eye is swelling up, but HERE COMES KEVIN MITCHELL! Linares right back and DOWN GOES KEVIN MITCHELL! Mitchell up, but Victor Loughlin waves it off! Linares TKO-10

EVGENY GRADOVICH vs LEE SELBY

Round 1: Gradovich coming out looking to be active, as always. Selby flicking his jab out. Gradovich swarms in close, Selby ties him up. Selby trying to box from the outside, pick him off with jabs, and Gradovich is just doing his usual pressure work, though not getting a lot done, either. Selby doing some decent work at range, moving laterally and keeping Gradovich from doing anything. Selby 10-9

Round 2: Selby continuing the same work he did in round one, moving laterally and landing pick-and-peck shots from the outside. Gradovich walking straight forward, hardly ever in good position to do much. Selby misses an uppercut. Right hand from Gradovich, heads may have clashed there, too. Gradovich starting to get closer, and Selby's nose is bleeding. Good little check hook from Selby catches Gradovich by surprise and staggers him just a bit. Another good hook from Selby, as he's now boxing with confidence. Selby 10-9, 20-18

Round 3: Gradovich taking 3-5 to land one a lot of the time so far. Selby continues to sort of pick him off, but Gradovich isn't backing down at all, which is no surprise. This is possibly turning into a question of whether Selby can do this for 12 rounds, because Gradovich can. Selby with another good hook late in the round, but Gradovich lands a decent shot just before the bell, too. Selby 10-9, 30-27

Round 4: Gradovich starting to get through this round, and he's roughing up Selby now, which has been his plan all along. Gradovich getting zero credit on Sky for the work he's doing in this round, putting together some quality stuff and cutting off the ring better, landing some smothering shots. Gradovich 10-9, Selby 39-37

Round 5: Gradovich getting his right hand in over Selby's jab this round, and the pressure is still there. He's getting hit with decent shots, too, though, and Selby gets back into it in the second half of this round. Gradovich does more for me this round. Gradovich 10-9, Selby 48-47

Round 6: Selby landing clean shots again to start this round, looking to gum up the works of Gradovich. Selby's shoelace comes undone. After that, Gradovich does a stanky leg after a good shot, and Selby momentarily presses, but Gradovich recovers and Selby pulls it back. Good right from Selby bounces off Gradovich's nose. Really big round for Selby that shut down any Gradovich rally for the moment. Selby 10-9, 58-56

Round 7: Selby fighting very well but Halling’s borderline psychotic praise is ruining the enthusiasm for me. Selby continues to clinically pick him apart from the outside. Gradovich is cut now and Halling says it's horrendous and terrible and likely to lead to death. I can't see it well enough to know if it's Halling going insane again. Gradovich fighting better after the blood starts flowing. I still like Selby this round. Selby 10-9, 68-65

Round 8: Time called shortly into the round and they're taking a look at another cut over the eye. The doctor is stopping the fight. Not sure if it's going to the cards. Going to cards. Selby 10-9, 78-74
