Today at 4:00 pm EST, PBC is back on CBS with a doubleheader from State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas, featuring Omar Figueroa against Ricky Burns in the main event, and a bantamweight fight of note in the co-feature between Tomoki Kameda and Jamie McDonnell.
Figueroa (24-0-1, 18 KO) is a former lightweight titleholder moving up to 140 pounds for this fight, and missed weight yesterday, though the fight will go ahead. Burns (37-4-1, 11 KO) also made the move from 135 to 140 recently, and is looking to pick up his second straight win after a tough run that saw him go 0-2-1 over three fights, with that "1" very controversial. The fight is set for 12 rounds.
In the co-feature, Tomoki Kameda (31-0, 19 KO) and Jamie McDonnell (25-2-1, 12 KO) will look to put in stronger performances than their last fights, even though both are coming off of solid wins. Kameda gave up his WBO bantamweight title for this fight after the sanctioning body opted not to sanction a unification with McDonnell's WBA "world" title (the "super world" title is held by Juan Carlos Payano).
If time permits, we will also see the return of former junior middleweight titleholder Austin Trout (28-2, 15 KO), who faces short notice opponent Luis Galarza (20-3, 14 KO) in a 10-round fight. Galarza is a replacement for the injured Anthony Mundine.
