Canelo vs Kirkland: Ann Wolfe shares her thoughts after the fight

"It was f***ed up."

James Kirkland's former trainer Ann Wolfe was at tonight's fight in Houston, where Kirkland was violently knocked out by Canelo Alvarez in the third round, getting dropped three times in all. HBO cameras caught up with Wolfe after the fight, and she had an emotional reaction to the bout.

"What my emotion was -- to see my family hold their faces, to see my son cry, to see James like that, to see his mother upset like that, see everybody upset... it wasn't 'I told you so, I'm happy because that happened to you.' It was fucked up," she said about watching the fight.

Kirkland's decision to once again split with Wolfe before the biggest fight of his career was heavily questioned by pundits and boxing fans in the lead-up to this fight, and whether or not Wolfe would have made a difference for Kirkland tonight, one thing is a bare fact: James Kirkland has two losses in his career, both by early knockout, and Ann Wolfe was not his trainer either time.
