Today at 5 pm EST / 2 pm PST, Timothy Bradley Jr and Jessie Vargas will hit the scales for tomorrow night's HBO World Championship Boxing main event from the StubHub Center in Carson, California. The welterweight clash is set for 12 rounds.
Bradley (31-1-1, 12 KO) is coming off of a controversial draw against Diego Chaves, following a loss to Manny Pacquiao. The 31-year-old former two-division titleholder is in need of a win, but Vargas (26-0, 9 KO) is no pushover. The 26-year-old Vargas has youth, height, and reach on his side, and has taken less punishment in his career than Bradley.
There will also be a super featherweight co-feature bout, with Oscar Valdez (15-0, 14 KO) taking on Ruben Tamayo (25-5-4, 17 KO). Valdez, 24, is one of Top Rank's brightest prospects, a rising action star from Mexico. Tamayo is a decent next step for him as an opponent, a veteran battler coming off of a stoppage loss to Jesus Cuellar.
