Tonight at 10:30 pm EST on HBO, Miguel Cotto returns for the first defense of his WBC and RING Magazine middleweight titles, facing Australia's Daniel Geale in a 158-pound catchweight bout at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Cotto-Geale will be the only fight on the live broadcast, and we'll be here with live round by round coverage.
Cotto (39-4, 32 KO) hasn't fought since beating a hobbled Sergio Martinez 364 days ago, and may have another physical advantage in this fight, if Geale (31-3, 16 KO) weighing in yesterday and looking obviously dehydrated is any indication. Geale even admitted that he badly struggled to get down the extra couple pounds in weight, while Cotto looked fresh, weighing in comfortably at just under 154 pounds for the fight.
If Geale has been able to hydrate well overnight and get himself comfortable, this is an interesting matchup. He's taller, longer, and naturally bigger than Cotto. But if he's not in shape to fight -- and yesterday tells us he may not be -- Cotto could walk right through him on his way to a proposed showdown with Canelo Alvarez.

ROUND BY ROUND
Round 1: Cotto digs to the body immediately. Geale does not look ... well. He put on 25 pounds overnight and it's unlikely he's in good shape here. Cotto targeting the body with left hooks. Geale missing shots repeatedly. Left hook from Cotto to the head stings Geale. Cotto moving around and landing the hook. Geale gets one in. Cotto jabbing now. Easy round for Cotto. Cotto 10-9
Round 2: Geale lands a right and is immediately hurt on a hook again. Hook to the body again. Cotto having his way. Geale's gloves touches the canvas, ref rules no knockdown. Cotto continues to rather easily outbox and outwork Geale. Cotto 10-9, 20-18
Round 3: Geale has nothing in there. Cotto looks good but AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO AGAINST WHO. Geale hits Cotto with a single good shot so this is his best round. Right hand hurts Geale, hook to the body, round ends. Cotto 10-9, 30-27
Round 4: Geale goes down early in the round and is more likely than not finished here. He's up but Cotto is attacking and Cotto is tagging him. Cotto mauling with body shots, Geale trying to fight his way out, body shot drops him again. It's over. Cotto TKO-4
