Miguel Cotto and Canelo Alvarez are very close to getting a November fight date done, with both sides saying that a deal should be announced by the end of July. Golden Boy's Oscar De La Hoya, representing Alvarez's side, says the fight is almost there, and Cotto's team says the fight is "90% done."

Cotto-Canelo could be the most highly-anticipated fight for the rest of 2015, at least for American audiences. Floyd Mayweather's upcoming September bout has yet to be announced, and with two months to go, there seems to be no serious buzz around the event. That said, it's still a Mayweather event, and if Amir Khan winds up being the opponent, then there will be plenty of hype.

Though the fight isn't official yet, there seems to be zero indication that negotiations will fall apart as they did early this year, when Canelo pulled out of the discussions because Cotto dragged his feet. They both signed interim bouts, with Canelo wiping out James Kirkland in May, and Cotto smashing Daniel Geale in June.
