Montreal-based fighter Lucian Bute (31-2, 24 KOs) will be ending his year-and-a-half layoff when he headlines an August 15th PBC card at the Bell Centre. Bute hasn't fought since losing a unanimous decision to Jean Pascal back in January 2014. Prior to that fight he had been out for another year plus before winning a decision against Denis Grachev, and getting TKO'd by the now officially-retired Carl Froch before then [which didn't happen in front of 80,000 screaming fans at Wembley Stadium, in case you were wondering].
"I'm ready and looking forward to going back in the ring," said Bute. "I have not lost my passion and I train six days a week, twice a day. I am excited to perform on the big stage on August 15."
That makes Bute 1-2 in the last three years which a pretty inactive schedule. Here he'll be taking on Italy's Andrea Di Luisa (17-2, 13 KOs) in a 10-round super middleweight bout. The show will be broadcast on NBCSN at 9pm EST and co-featured with a light heavyweight bout between Eleider Alvarez (17-0, 10 KOs) and Isidro Ranoni Prieto (24-0-3, 20 KOs).
