PBC on ESPN smashed what Friday Night Fights was drawing, but was still a little below expectation from the network. Overall, the entire broadcast averaged 799,000 viewers but saw a good spike during the main even between Keith Thurman and Luis Collazo, which had an average viewership of 999,000 while peaking at almost 1.2M.
Despite doing a little below what ESPN hoped for, and also considering they were competing with and topped by NASCAR and UFC 189 coverage that night, the 799,000 average viewership was well above anything Friday Night Fights had done all year (averaging 381,000 viewers) - making this PBC debut the most watched boxing event on an ESPN network in 2015.
This debut show was the first card of a two-year deal between PBC and ESPN, with the second card on the network scheduled for August 1st when Danny Garcia takes on Paulie Malignaggi at the Barclays Center. That card will also feature Daniel Jacobs vs. Sergio Mora.
