Arthur Abraham scored a sixth round stoppage win over Robert Stieglitz this past weekend, but it didn't come without a cost. It's now being reported that Abraham sustained a hairline fracture to his jaw during the second round of the fight. The fracture apparently also caused Abraham's bloody nose later in that bout. Arthur will take a wait-and-see approach, seeing how the fracture heals before possibly undergoing surgery.
It should also be noted that Abraham is no stranger to fighting with a cracked jaw. He famously overcame a compound fracture to beat Edison Miranda back in 2006. How he was able to cope with that injury, I'll never know, but it was brave enough (though some might argue 'foolish enough') to win him the #1 spot in RingTV's greatest above & beyond performances.
Despite the injury, Abraham's promoter Kalle Sauerland says he expects Arthur to be back in the ring this fall.
"Arthur is a fighter personified. I expect him to be ready to fight again by October/November, defending his title in top condition."
Hopefully they will allow him to get back in good condition before scheduling him for another fight.
