Kovalev-Mohammedi averages over 1M viewers

Sergey Kovalev shows that he certainly has some drawing power as his fight on HBO with Mohammedi averaged 1.014M viewers going opposite a PBC card.

HBO's broadcast of Kovalev-Mohammedi did some solid ratings as the show averaged 1.014 million viewers, according to Nielsen, peaking at 1.084M. This means that Kovalev's fight did just shy of his last HBO bout against Jean Pascal in March, which averaged 1.152M viewers. This certainly is pretty indicative of Kovalev being a pretty good draw considering the opponent he was in with.

Of course this telecast also went head-up with a PBC card that was also held in Las Vegas, headlined by Beibut Shumenov's winning a decision against B.J. Flores. That win earned Shumenov a vacant interim cruiserweight title but the PBC show, which aired on NBC Sports Network, averaged only 241,000 viewers, peaking at 422,000. Considering that NBC sports is available in nearly three times the number of homes that HBO is, you can score this as a win for Kathy Duva and HBO, who have won a battle, but certainly not the war against Al Haymon.
