PBC on ESPN - Garcia vs Malignaggi: Live streaming results and round by round coverage

Danny Garcia moves up to welterweight to face tricky veteran Paulie Malignaggi tonight on ESPN.

Danny Garcia and Daniel Jacobs share top billing tonight in the latest edition of PBC on ESPN, but both men are in with veterans who make it hard to look good at best, and can play the true spoiler role at worst. Garcia moves up to 147 pounds to face Paulie Malignaggi in the main event, while Jacobs takes on Sergio Mora in a 160 pound co-feature.

Garcia (30-0-1, 17 KO) is looking to make amends, so to speak, for his last three performances, which have seen him seemingly come down a step from his 2013 win over Lucas Matthysse. The Philly fighter scored a controversial decision over Mauricio Herrera after beating Matthysse, then knocked out woefully overmatched Rod Salka, before another debatable decision this year against Lamont Peterson.

Malignaggi (33-6, 7 KO) hasn't fought in 16 months, since he was smashed by Shawn Porter, but the 34-year-old Brooklyn native will have home field advantage at the Barclays Center, and has at least a similar style to one we've seen give Garcia fits.

Jacobs (29-1, 26 KO) is also in tricky if not tough, taking on "The Latin Snake" Sergio Mora (28-3-2, 9 KO), a former 154-pound titleholder who will probably always be most remembered for winning season one of "The Contender" a decade ago. Mora has won five straight against middling opposition.

Danny Garcia def. Paulie Malignaggi by TKO (2:22 of round 9)

Daniel Jacobs def. Sergio Mora by injury TKO (2:55 of round 2)

* * * * *

Round 1: First round sees Paulie moving constantly and flicking out some jabs, lands a couple body shots. But Garcia landed the better shots, a few good right hands here and there. Garcia takes the round. Garcia 10-9

Round 2: Trade of body shots from both guys. Right to the body from Garcia. Counter right upstairs from Garcia. He's a little slow getting away after throwing shots. Malignaggi controls this round for the most part, though. Interesting start. Malignaggi 10-9, 19-19

Round 3: Garcia loading up for power shots. Malignaggi cut over the right eye and eats a good left to the body. Garcia pushing a jab out a little bit. That punch hasn't been there for him. Garcia whacking at the body while they tie up. Paulie sticking the jab and elbows out there, gets a warning about the elbowing. Garcia 10-9, 29-28

Round 4: Malignaggi starting to look like a fighter with a foot out the door, getting roughed up a bit in there. He's making Danny miss a lot, but that's about all he's doing anymore. Malignaggi's face is taking a beating. Garcia 10-9, 39-37

Round 5: Malignaggi's lack of power and declining skills are killing him in here. Garcia doesn't exactly look great, but he's easily winning. Garcia 10-9, 49-46

Round 6: This isn't much of a fight, but I just can't score these rounds for Malignaggi. He's not landing much at all and doing very little other than playing some decent defense against a flat footed counter puncher. Garcia 10-9, 59-55

Round 7: Paulie fighting bravely. Lands a good uppercut, but even that comes after Garcia lands another solid shot. Garcia 10-9, 69-64

Round 8: Garcia beating up Malignaggi this round, hammering away at him. Paulie is really taking a beating in there. It's not outrageous, but it's consistent and just getting worse. Garcia 10-9, 79-73

Round 9: Referee Mercante looking like he really wants an excuse to stop this fight. Malignaggi’s not gonna quit and his corner won’t quit for him. Mercante jumps in. Good call, IMO. Garcia beating him up at the end there. Garcia TKO-9

Round 1: Mora starting awkward but active. Jacobs just feeling it out for the first minute. There's a counter right hook and DOWN GOES MORA! Up and Jacobs is chasing, OH HELL MORA WITH A COUNTER LEFT AND DOWN GOES JACOBS! Some awkward constant motion for the rest of the round, Jacobs getting in a good shot near the bell. Just going 10-10. Mora won the first minute, they traded legit knockdowns, and then Jacobs landed some decent shots in the last minute or so. 10-10

Round 2: Mora trying to give Jacobs all these awkward angles, but Jacobs is hunting him now, looking to corner him and throw power shots. Mora not getting close on much in this round, Jacobs landing a few shots here and there. Mora down on a clipping right hand and might have twisted his knee. Knockdown is counted and MOra may not be able to continue. It's over. Jacobs TKO-2
